Mechanism of Action

Inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by irreversibly binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs 1a, 1b, 2, 3), preventing cross-linking of peptidoglycan chains. Bactericidal against susceptible gram-positive and gram-negative organisms.
