Mechanism of Action

Fourth-generation zwitterionic cephalosporin with enhanced outer membrane permeability in gram-negative bacteria. Binds PBP-1a, PBP-1b, PBP-2, PBP-3. Broad-spectrum coverage: gram-positive (MSSA, viridans streptococci, S. pneumoniae) and gram-negative (P. aeruginosa, Enterobacteriaceae including AmpC producers, H. influenzae). Stable against many plasmid-mediated and chromosomal beta-lactamases.
