Third-generation cephalosporin with unique pyridinium substituent that confers exceptional anti-pseudomonal activity, including against strains resistant to other beta-lactams. Binds PBP-3 (primary). Stable to most plasmid-mediated beta-lactamases but susceptible to ESBLs. Bactericidal.
