Contezolid molecular structure

Contezolid

Also known as: Youxitai, MRX-I

CAS Number: 1112968-42-9

Oxazolidinone antibacterial

Mechanism of Action

Contezolid binds the peptidyl transferase centre of the 50S ribosomal subunit and blocks formation of the 70S initiation complex, inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis at initiation in the same way as linezolid. A 2,3-dihydropyridin-4-one replaces the acetamide-bearing morpholine of earlier oxazolidinones, which markedly reduces monoamine oxidase inhibition and the myelosuppression associated with prolonged linezolid therapy. Activity is directed at resistant Gram-positive pathogens including MRSA, VRE and penicillin-resistant pneumococci.
