Delafloxacin Meglumine
Also known as: Baxdela
CAS Number: 352458-37-8
Fluoroquinolone Antibacterial (Anionic)
Mechanism of Action
Delafloxacin inhibits DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV with balanced dual targeting, and its weakly acidic anionic structure, lacking a protonatable amine, increases the un-ionised fraction and potency at the acidic pH of abscesses and infected skin. This pH-shifted potency profile is unusual among quinolones and extends activity to MRSA. Killing is bactericidal and concentration dependent.

Typical Applications
Lyophilised powder for intravenous infusion and oral tablets. The meglumine salt provides the aqueous solubility needed for the parenteral presentation, so sterile-grade API supply is central to this molecule.
