Eravacycline
Also known as: Xerava
CAS Number: 1207283-85-9
Fluorocycline Antibacterial (Reserve)
Mechanism of Action
Eravacycline binds the 30S ribosomal subunit and blocks aminoacyl-tRNA entry, but its 7-fluoro and 9-pyrrolidinoacetamido substitutions allow it to evade both ribosomal protection proteins and tetracycline-specific efflux pumps. Ribosome binding affinity is higher than that of earlier tetracyclines, giving potency against carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales and Acinetobacter. Activity is bacteriostatic to slowly bactericidal depending on organism.
