Pharmacopeia Standards
Mechanism of Action
Group 1 carbapenem with high protein binding (~95%) enabling once-daily dosing via prolonged pharmacokinetic profile. Binds PBP-2 and PBP-3. Unlike meropenem and imipenem, lacks anti-pseudomonal and Acinetobacter activity due to outer membrane exclusion. Active against ESBL-producing Enterobacteriaceae and anaerobes.
