Mechanism of Action
8-methoxyfluoroquinolone with expanded spectrum including anaerobes, atypical pathogens (Mycobacterium tuberculosis), and Streptococcus pneumoniae (superior to ciprofloxacin/levofloxacin). Greater topoisomerase IV affinity enhances gram-positive activity. Hepatic elimination (no dose adjustment in renal impairment). QTc prolongation risk.
